To provide students in UMMC's six health professions schools and the University of Mississippi's School of Pharmacy with an opportunity for academic distinction and educational enrichment, developed within an interprofessional framework and guided by dedicated faculty, to broaden critical thinking skills related to healthcare practice and research.

Program Structure

The UMMC Honors College is an in-person interactive program for interprofessional collaboration and engagement. The program duration is one academic year (June through May) with monthly in-person interactive sessions.

Eligibility

Students enrolled in UMMC degree programs that are at least 3 years in length will be eligible to earn an invitation to join the UMMC Honors College. Degree programs eligible for the UMMC Honors College are AuD, DHA, DMD, DNP, DPT, MD, OTD, PhD, and PharmD.

Students will be selected for the UMMC Honors College based on academic and professionalism evaluations after their first year(s) of professional school.

Students in 3-year UMMC degree programs are eligible if they finished in the top 25% of their class after the first year, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher for UMMC coursework in their degree program, and demonstrate professional conduct with no formal disciplinary sanctions, probation, or remediation.

Students in 4+ year UMMC degree programs are eligible if they finished in the top 25% of their class after the second year, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher for UMMC coursework in their current degree program, and demonstrate professional conduct with no formal disciplinary sanctions, probation, or remediation.

Students who are eligible for invitations to the UMMC Honors College will receive more information during the summer academic semester.
